TECNO Mobile has just introduced a new smartphone, the TECNO POVA the company’s newest budget gaming-capable smartphone that features a massive 6,000mAh battery capacity with an intelligent power-saving technology will help you carry out your daily tasks smoothly and powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor for a better gaming experience.
Unboxing And Accessories:
TECNO POVA comes in a new stunning silver box that reminds me of an expensive perfume box. On top of the box is where the brand’s logo is located and a big “POVA” model printed on the center in metallic silver font. Just like the TECNO Pouvoir 4 that we previously reviewed the new TECNO POVA also comes with a tempered glass, transparent silicone case, paper documentations, 13 months warranty card, 18W charger (which is a step-up from the regular 10W charger), USB-A to micro USB data/charging cable, earpiece, and the SIM ejector tool.
Build quality And Design:
It uses a large 6.8 inch 2.5D curved IPS screen with 1640 x 720 HD+ resolution and 264 ppi. It also has a slim bezels and punch-hole cutout that gives it a 90.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. While the 20:5:9 aspect ratio gives the users a wider visual area that provides them with a more immersive viewing experience perfect for both gaming and media consumption even at 720p.
On the left side is where you will find the SIM tray and a unique button to wake up a Virtual Google assistant. This triple-slot tray makes it more convenient for users who need to use two SIMs but want to expand the storage using a microSD card.
On the right side of the smartphone, we have the volume rocker above the power key.
On the bottom part you will see the microphone, the micro-USB port and 3.5mm audio jack.
The device comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back and and 13 megapixel quad-camera system that tags along with a quad flash unit.
Camera:
The TECNO POVA touts a quad-camera system with a quad flash module. It has a 13 megapixel f/1.85 main camera, a 2 megapixel macro camera, a 2 megapixel depth sensor, and an AI sensor. For selfies, it has an 8MP AI camera with dual front LED flash. With the AI Quad Camera the TECNO POVA expands its shooting scene range and makes corresponding refinement and enhancement so as to capture more impressive photos. AI beauty, Super night mode, Portrait mode, AI detection, all have essential upgrades.
Performance:
Inside the POVA is the 2.0 GHz 12nm MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor paired with Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU, 6GB RAM, and 64GB expandable storage. The phone also comes with Android 10 with HiOS 7.0.
The MediaTek Helio G80 along with its Hyper-Engine Game Technology ensures that playing games will remain stable and smooth. It intelligently manages and adjusts CPU, GPU and memory performance to reach enhanced and sustained gameplay experience. Aside from that to keep the performance in check it also has a thermal conductive and 3D multi-layer materials for heat dissipation.
The phone runs with Android 10 OS with HiOS 7.0 out of the box. It comes with Game Space that supports CPU/GPU/Memory performance boosting and anti-disturb mode. It also ensures smooth gaming operations which includes freezing unnecessary apps and restricting background network.

TECNO Mobile’s POVA is equipped with a massive 6,000mAh battery capacity capable of powering the phone for up to four days straight on a single charge. According to the official Tecno Mobile website, the phone is capable of powering your smartphone for 30 days on standby mode, 8 days of continuous music, 64 hours of call time, and up to 20 hours playing games.
Conclusion:
Overall, the new TECNO POVA smartphone is an adequate choice for an entry-level gaming smartphone. I’m really impressed with the battery life of this smartphone having a massive 6,000mAh battery capacity really changes my overall mobile entertainment experience plus the fact that it also has a 18W fast charging. I literally don’t need to bring an external powerbank to charge my phone whenever I’m outside.
